Please join us as we welcome Pediatric Occupational Therapist Dr. Carissa Heestand on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. ET to learn how you can transform your autistic child's daily struggles with sensory challenges into manageable routines that support their unique needs. Discover practical strategies to decode meltdowns, navigate mealtime battles, and create a sensory-smart home environment that reduces stress for your entire family. 

Dr. Carissa Heestand, OTD, OTR/L, is a licensed pediatric occupational therapist specializing in neurodiversity-affirming care with expertise in infant development and oral-motor feeding therapy. She holds a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University and has developed expertise in co-regulation approaches through her published research on caregiver coaching programs. 

We will also be joined by Sydney Rysen, PhD, toxicologist specializing in neurodegenerative disease and environmental health, who will address how toxic substances can intensify sensory symptoms and discuss the importance of health screening. Attorney Chris Irizarry from Farrell Fuller Law will discuss common pathways for toxic substance exposure in homes and legal protections for families affected by environmental contamination.
